Ichiro's Malt MWR (Mizunara Wood Reserve) (700ml)

Background: The Chichibu distillery is headed by Ichiro Akuto and is the most popular small whisky-maker in Japan. This blended "pure malt" whisky consists of malt whisky vatted from Chichibu, and, possibly, from the now silent Hanyu distillery, previously owned by Ichiro's family. Finished in Japanese Mizunara oak barrels, this allows drinkers to experience the influence of the world-famous oak.

Tasting Note: "At first whiff, aromas of thick honey, cinnamon, and sandalwood. Intense citrus joins in the form of lemon, grapefruit, and some orange followed by syrup and vanilla. The honey and citrus remain strong, as apples, spice, and a subtle touch of ginger bring balance. The finish is quite short and anti-climactic, compared to the depth of the nose and palate. "
