Albert Glas Gewurztraminer Spatlese Pink Label 2023 (750ml)
Country/ Region:
Pfalz, Germany
Background:
Weingut Albert Glas is a family-owned German winery in the southern Palatinate (Pfalz) region, established in 1958. Now managed by third-generation winemaker Dominik Glas, the estate has grown from 2.5 to nearly 20 hectares. Their portfolio balances traditional craftsmanship with modern viticulture.
Winemaking:
The harvest takes place in the early morning hours to take advantage of the coolness of the night. Only ripe and aromatic grapes are selected to be crushed. After resting in their own juice for 10 hours, the grapes are gently pressed, pre-clarified, then cooled in our stainless steel tanks. We then retain the residual sweetness by stopping the fermentation process. For this, we cool the wine down to 7°C to stop the yeasts from converting the sugar into alcohol. What remains is an incredibly fruity wine.
Grapes: 100% Gewurztraminer
Tasting note:
Lychee and roses dominate the aromas of this exceptionally fruity wine. Despite its high sweetness, the taste remains playful with its fresh acidity.
Food Pairing:
It pairs beautifully with spicy dishes, creamy or blue cheeses, and fruit-forward desserts. For example, Thai green curries, Indian chicken korma, Sichuan mapo tofu, glazed salmon or pan-seared tuna.
