Riverby Estate Eliza Riesling (750ml)

Background: Riverby Estate is a boutique wine producer, occupying a prime site in Marlborough's Jacksons Road heartland. All grapes are grown on the estate vineyard by descendants of the Matthews family, who have been farming the property for over 100 years.

Winemaking: 2014 was a good Riesling vintage in Marlborough and the hand-picked fruit for this wine came into the winery in pristine condition.

Tasting note: Mid, golden straw in colour, this distinctive Riesling has a rich nose of dried apricots, jasmin florals, manuka honey, orange peel, apples and ripe stone-fruit. These initial nuances carry through on the palate, which is immediately appealing, unctuous and moreish and keeps building in intensity with rich, spicy fruits; stone-fruits, citrus, toffee apples, honey and ginger.

Food Pairing: Good with ice cream or dessert
